The New Barbarians (1983)

Costume Design by Mario Giorsi

Between filming of 1990: The Bronx Warriors and Escape from the Bronx, Enzo Castellari made The New Barbarians (also known as Warriors of the Wasteland), a film with more 'space age' costume designs than most post-apocalyptic films.

The film's anti-hero Scorpion (Timothy Brent) wears a futuristic green sleeveless coat with white fur lining and large shoulder pads, worn over a shirt that was presumably also made for Brent due to its deep collar and lack of buttons or lapels. Past the coat and shirt, the rest of the costume's components (ie the chaps and codpiece) were no doubt bought.

For the final battle, Scorpion wears a set of transparent chest armor with nothing underneath!
Giorsi also designed a much more flashy costume for Fred Williamson as 'Nadir'; I'm sure the various ribbed vinyl armor pieces were made, as was the gold and black vinyl vest, were made for Williamson, with the chaps being bought.
Giorsi also designed purple and tan vinyl leggings for Anna Kanakis as Alma, worn with a similarly deep collared shirt to Brent's, as well as a set of custom-made chest armor.
The evil Templars wear all-white costumes; Italian genre film stalwart George Eastman stars as One, with Ennio Girolami (also a regular actor in Castellari's films) as Shadow. Both One and Shadow wear cut up white shirts and white chaps with pockets (altered overalls?) with custom-made vinyl collars and shoulder pads. The BDSM gear was presumably bought, just like all the BDSM gear in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior.
Massimo Vani as Mako dresses similar to Shadow, with an altered overall cut into an open shirt, though his chaps have been altered to have a studded black strip down the sides. Again, customized collars and shoulder pads were made.
The 'grunt' Templars all wear off-the-rack white overalls and motorbike helmets, with the only bespoke elements being the custom shoulder pads and vinyl collar pieces also made of ribbed vinyl.
The other wasteland residents are in contemporary clothing except for Vinya (Iris Peynado) is notable, thanks to the see-through stockings and bikini she wears during the love scene with Nadir.
