Doctor Who (1963) - Season 2

Note: Yes I am still going through and fixing up older articles, and splitting them apart into 'new' articles. After Doctor Who (which I really want to be done with!), it will be Lexx and Babylon 5 next. After that, I promise any articles will be entirely new ones! Apologies if it seems like I'm going around in circles...

'The Rescue'

Costume Design by Daphne Dare

A futuristic dress was designed for Maureen O'Brien to wear as the new companion Vicki, a resident of the far future. The miniskirt dress had short sleeves and a zig-zag pattern around the collar.
Dare also designed a futuristic jumpsuit for Ray Barrett to wear as Bennett. The jumpsuit has a vest-like segmet around the collar and shoulders, with diagonal pockets cut into it. I presume the main portion of the jumpsuit was also custom-made.
A pair of two-piece jumpsuits and futuristic capes was made for the two men playing the briefly seen Didonians.
Most elaborate of the serial's costumes was the demonic mask and robe worn by Ray Barrett as 'Koquillion', Bennett's altar-ego. As of now I do not know who made the 'hard parts' of the costume, which was apparently inspired by a close-up of a fly.

'The Space Museum'

Costume Design by Daphne Dare

A set of pinstriped vests and trousers were made for the oppressed 'Xerons'. The vests have no sleeves, and zip up at the back, indicating they were custom-made garments. Judging by the matching fabric of the trousers, these must have been custom-made as well.
More obviously futuristic were the white uniforms worn by the oppressive 'Moroks', with wide-shouldered tunics. Both the Morok costumes, and the Thal costumes from the previous season's 'The Daleks', evoke the wide-shouldered costumes seen in 1936's Things to Come.
